Bobby Gentry’s Ode to Billie Joe Reviewed for Philly.com!

Over the weekend, a wonderful review for Tara Murtha’s 33 1/3 for Bobby Gentry’s Ode to Billie Joe surfaced online, courtesy of Helen W. Mallon over at philly.com.

Mallon unpacks the book eloquently. She illuminates some of Murtha’s most fascinating explorations, including the mystery surrounding the genesis of the demo that would become “Ode to Billie Joe.” Mallon ultimately notes, “Murtha’s gem of a book is, above all, a testament to the enduring complexity of Bobbie Gentry.”

Read the full review here (it’s worth it, believe me), and if you missed it, be sure to check out our Q&A with Tara Murtha herself!
